Description
This is an in-flight image of a blue jay taken in the backyard. The round object shown is a gall from a goldenrod plant. Inside, is a larvae that downy woodpeckers and chickadees like to eat by breaking into the gall. We used to use the larvae or worms for fishing sunfish. Perhaps blue jays like to break into these also. The white spots shown in the background and on his head are snowflakes coming down. Hopefully, the snow won't stay and we will have
some more fall weather up here!
