Artist's Description
It would be nice to say this red winged blackbird was dressed up for Halloween but this is what he looked like! This image was captured last summer. He was completely blind in one eye but would keep swiveling his head to use his one good eye to look for danger. Watching birds and wildlife like this keeps reminding me to suck it up when I have an ache or pain!
I captured several in-flight images of him over the course of the summer. Hope he was able to migrate south but wouldn't bet on it.
About Gerry Sibell
Thanks for stopping by. A retired educator, my main focus since retirement has been becoming more serious about photography. My wife and I live in northern Minnesota. Our favorite place to visit and photograph is Yellowstone National Park. My project for the past ten years has been photographing small birds in flight. The most frustrating endeavor I have ever attempted but also the most rewarding. Each day, it seems like a new problem has to be solved with this very difficult kind of photography!
