Description
This is an image of a rooster ring necked pheasant. This guy had been around for a few weeks, left, and now is gone again. What fun it was to watch him, especially when he would flap his wings and crow! Our four granddaughters had a great time watching him perform. When I was in my blind, he snuck up behind me and crowed! Scared the bejesus out of me...not once but several times! I'm not sure if this guy had been raised by someone or had escaped from a game farm. They are not common this far north.
Hopefully, he has just moved on in search of a mate. We do have a resident pack of coyotes and there are wolves that move through. I do hope he has outsmarted all of them and all his crowing has been successful in finding a mate!
So much for the rule of thirds! This is full frame so it is what it is!

Thank you, Blair! Elusive is an understatement for these guys. They're unbelievable!

Gorgeous bird! We used to have Ring-necked Pheasants in Montreal when I was a kid. I loved them!
Gerry Sibell replied:
Thanks, Doris! They are beautiful, I don't know how I could have been so stupid to hunt them when I was a youngster!
