Artist's Description
This is an image of a male common redpoll taken in the backyard. The last few redpolls left last weekend. Normally, they are all gone during the month of March. Redpolls, especially the males, offer a splash of color at the feeders during the winter months up here. It will be nice to see them back next winter.
About Gerry Sibell
Thanks for stopping by. A retired educator, my main focus since retirement has been becoming more serious about photography. My wife and I live in northern Minnesota. Our favorite place to visit and photograph is Yellowstone National Park. My project for the past ten years has been photographing small birds in flight. The most frustrating endeavor I have ever attempted but also the most rewarding. Each day, it seems like a new problem has to be solved with this very difficult kind of photography! I love these guys. Had them for the first time this winter and they certainly brightened up the feeder with their little strawberry stained feathers!
Gerry Sibell replied:
Thank you, Karen! They certainly add some color but they sure do go through the thistle.
