Artist's Description
This is an image of a fox sparrow. They are a large, beautiful sparrow. There has been a fairly large flock of them in my backyard for the last several days. Usually, there are just a few of them in the spring that stop over and rest for a few days before heading north. Because of the cold spring and over eight inches of snow that just fell, they are staying a bit longer. That's fine with me!
About Gerry Sibell
Thanks for stopping by. A retired educator, my main focus since retirement has been becoming more serious about photography. My wife and I live in northern Minnesota. Our favorite place to visit and photograph is Yellowstone National Park. My project for the past ten years has been photographing small birds in flight. The most frustrating endeavor I have ever attempted but also the most rewarding. Each day, it seems like a new problem has to be solved with this very difficult kind of photography! This "umbrella pose" is one of my favorites. I always enjoy the strong graphic lines when they have this pose at this angle. The pussy willows give it a nice sweet overall effect, also.
