This is an image of a male wood duck taken in the pond in the backyard. Each spring, the wood ducks, along with some other kinds of ducks, show up in the little pond. They usually stay a couple of weeks, then leave until the next spring. This spring, the woodies have been here for about a month so far. In one nest box, there is a female wood duck and a female hooded merganser nesting! In another box, there is a female hooded merganser. It will be interesting to see how this all plays out!
