Description
This is an image of a blast taking place at the Hull Rust mine in Hibbing, Minnesota. The Hull Rust is one of the largest open pit iron mines in the world. There are three shifts of workers and is open 24/7 every day of the year. Usually, on Wednesdays around 11 AM, there is a blast that opens up a particular area so more mining of ore can take place. If the blast is to take place too close to the observation area, it is closed off to visitors. I believe one mile is the minimum distance. On this particular day, a small exception was made for the distance to accomodate the visitors. The Hull Rust is quite an awesome sight to behold.
