An image of a little hooded merganser just before launching into the water. Ms. Hoodie Allen did a great job. She laid nine eggs and all of them hatched. She sat on them for 31 days.
We put a camera in the box this spring before the ducks showed up. What a great time my wife and I, and the four grandkids had watching them. They hatched out yesterday. They will leave the nest after 24 hours so I was ready for them this morning. It was all over in less than 10 minutes! The last duckling took some time to get up the nerve to jump but Mom kept talking to the little one from the water.
What a fun time to watch these little ones see the world for the first time! They went gaga over everything!
