Excellent clarity, light and color, such beautiful waxwings!!! I have noticed them feeding each other also when close to mating season as well as other birds doing the same thing. Just noticed this for the first time this year. So endearing! LF

Oh so cute and love the title Gerry. f/l Ruth

Gerry Sibell replied:

Thank you, Ruth! I missed the better shot when the waxwing on the right was feeding the other one! By the time I found them in the viewfinder, the feeding session was done. They are probably getting ready to pair up for mating season.

Artist's Description

This is an image of two cedar waxwings taken in the backyard in northern Minnesota. The waxwings really outdid themselves this year. Two days ago, I noticed them in one of the apple trees a little after 6 AM. I was able to photograph them for over twelve hours that day. Normally, they don't stay too long each day. They must have just gotten in during the night. They did a lot of preening and were getting some shut-eye. Still trying to get through all the images!!

About Gerry Sibell

Gerry Sibell

Thanks for stopping by. A retired educator, my main focus since retirement has been becoming more serious about photography. My wife and I live in northern Minnesota. Our favorite place to visit and photograph is Yellowstone National Park. My project for the past ten years has been photographing small birds in flight. The most frustrating endeavor I have ever attempted but also the most rewarding. Each day, it seems like a new problem has to be solved with this very difficult kind of photography!
