Artist's Description
This image was taken of the wolf, Grizzer, at the International Wolf Center in Ely, Minnesota. These are wolves that are born in captivity. I spend a lot of time observing the behavior of these magnificent animals.
Update: Grizzer, the alpha male, has been put into the retirement area of the International Wolf Center. He was being challenged by one of the younger wolves named Denali. Grizzer was more of a passive alpha, so he was injured by Denali. To protect Grizzer, he was put into retirement ahead of his scheduled time.
About Gerry Sibell
Thanks for stopping by. A retired educator, my main focus since retirement has been becoming more serious about photography. My wife and I live in northern Minnesota. Our favorite place to visit and photograph is Yellowstone National Park. My project for the past ten years has been photographing small birds in flight. The most frustrating endeavor I have ever attempted but also the most rewarding. Each day, it seems like a new problem has to be solved with this very difficult kind of photography!
