Artist's Description
This is an image of Grizzer. He was the heir apparent alpha when Shadow was put into retirement. His reign didn't last very long because he wasn't aggressive enough in putting down the challenges of the younger wolves, Aidan and Denali. Things kept escalating until Grizzer's sibling Maya, was injured in a fight and had to be euthanized. Grizzer suffered severe injuries to the head and was put into retirement fo his own safety. He was a magnificent specimen to watch and I will miss seeing him out and about in the main enclosure.
About Gerry Sibell
Thanks for stopping by. A retired educator, my main focus since retirement has been becoming more serious about photography. My wife and I live in northern Minnesota. Our favorite place to visit and photograph is Yellowstone National Park. My project for the past ten years has been photographing small birds in flight. The most frustrating endeavor I have ever attempted but also the most rewarding. Each day, it seems like a new problem has to be solved with this very difficult kind of photography!
