Artist's Description

This is an image of Grizzer, the alpha male of the wolves at the International Wolf Center in Ely, Minnesota. He is my favorite wolf at the IWC. He is the alpha but is very restrained in his behavior to the other wolves.
Update:
Grizzer has been put in the retirement area of the International Wolf Center. He had been challenged by Denali, one of the younger wolves. Grizzer was not aggressive enough to maintain his alpha status. He had been injured quite severely in the head area so, for his safety, has been separated from the two younger wolves. It is too bad because he is only seven years old and is too young to be put in the "retirement" area. He is a very popular wolf and is quite popular on the internet.

About Gerry Sibell

Gerry Sibell

Thanks for stopping by. A retired educator, my main focus since retirement has been becoming more serious about photography. My wife and I live in northern Minnesota. Our favorite place to visit and photograph is Yellowstone National Park. My project for the past ten years has been photographing small birds in flight. The most frustrating endeavor I have ever attempted but also the most rewarding. Each day, it seems like a new problem has to be solved with this very difficult kind of photography!
