This is an image of a male ruby-throated hummingbird taken in the backyard in northern Minnesota. The end of July and the first part of August is a good time to get some pictures of these little beauties. Their trips to the hummingbird feeders pick up at this time.

Yesterday was the first day for me in spending a few days capturing these little guys in flight this year. I always like when the little green feathers on their backs curl up like shown here.

Thanks for stopping by. A retired educator, my main focus since retirement has been becoming more serious about photography. My wife and I live in northern Minnesota. Our favorite place to visit and photograph is Yellowstone National Park. My project for the past ten years has been photographing small birds in flight. The most frustrating endeavor I have ever attempted but also the most rewarding. Each day, it seems like a new problem has to be solved with this very difficult kind of photography!
