This image was taken in the tiny pond in my backyard. Again, this year, there has been quite a crew of these guys. The females are still coming in with the males so they haven't started setting yet. One of my wood duck nests has six eggs in it so I'm quite excited! There has been both a female wood duck and female hooded merganser going in there. From what I've read, both ducks will sometimes nest side by side. It will be very interesting to see what comes out of that nest box!
Thanks for stopping by. A retired educator, my main focus since retirement has been becoming more serious about photography. My wife and I live in northern Minnesota. Our favorite place to visit and photograph is Yellowstone National Park. My project for the past ten years has been photographing small birds in flight. The most frustrating endeavor I have ever attempted but also the most rewarding. Each day, it seems like a new problem has to be solved with this very difficult kind of photography!
