Artist's Description

This is an in flight image of a pine siskin along with poplar buds taken in the backyard. Up here in the north country, poplar are many times called popple. These trees are probably called this because "popple" pops when it is used as firewood! It seems that after the big wave of pine siskins and redpolls left a few weeks ago, a fresh group of these migrants have shown up at the thistle sacks.

About Gerry Sibell

Gerry Sibell

Thanks for stopping by. A retired educator, my main focus since retirement has been becoming more serious about photography. My wife and I live in northern Minnesota. Our favorite place to visit and photograph is Yellowstone National Park. My project for the past ten years has been photographing small birds in flight. The most frustrating endeavor I have ever attempted but also the most rewarding. Each day, it seems like a new problem has to be solved with this very difficult kind of photography!
