Description
This is an image of a great gray owl taken in northern Minnesota. There was a minor boreal owl irruption this year. When the food population crashes in the far north, the owls will go south in search of food. Good for photographers but bad for these majestic birds. This owl was not baited. I do not bait raptors. I don't need to get the photograph that badly. When these proud birds are baited, they become habituated and will actually fly to the photographers crying to be fed. A sad situation to observe.
